About

Hi! I'm Vanessa (she/her). I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Therapist in the Bay Area and the founder of Empowered Mind Therapy Center. We are dedicated to building a community where BIPOC women are empowered in their own healing by understanding how their trauma has impacted their brains, with the use of brain-based therapies. Specializing in EMDR and Brainspotting, I also provide consultation for BIPOC clinicians pursuing certification in these techniques to promote ongoing learning and professional development in community with one another.

Over the course of my 12+ year career in social work & therapy, and my own personal struggles as a mixed race woman of color, I've seen way too many BIPOC wellness professionals sell themselves short. Not only struggle with ever looming imposter syndrome, but stifled by internalized racism & colonial mentality. Because I want to see more BIPOC thrive beyond healing from trauma, I also offer Empowerment Coaching to BIPOC wellness professionals who are waiting to take that next step into the life, and exponential impact, they know they are meant for.
