About

Hi, my name is Sheila. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. A little bit about myself is that I enjoy appreciating quaint towns, ramen, fish tacos, pancit, dark chocolate, and matcha latte. I am an advocate and LGBTQ+ ally. I am a proud to belong in AAPI community.

I implement effective psychotherapy by utilizing humanistic approach, which values authenticity, empathy, individual's potential for growth, collaborative work, and finding meaning/ purpose in their lives. I believe, a collaborative work in making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.

I am trained and has certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) since year of 2012 and since then I have had 3 updated trainings in DBT. Examples of evidenced based trainings and experience I utilize: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Mastering Telehealth & Anxiety Treatment in the Age of Social Distancing, Certified ADHD Professional (ADHD-CCSP) /Adult ADHD, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy Basics.

My clinical therapeutic approach consists of focusing on client strengths, practicing mindfulness and emotional regulation, examining irrational beliefs and behavioral patterns, and utilizing creative activities such as hand-outs, mindfulness practices and arts.

As a clinician, I have worked in variety of clinical roles that has helped me develop various therapeutic techniques that are unique to fit the needs of each client.
