About

Kumusta! My name is John Cabonce (he/him), a 1.5 generation, bilingual Filipino-American Associate Therapist (APCC #8423/ ASW #117441) supervised by Anna Lopez, LMFT #115841. I was born in Manila and spent most of my childhood years in Bataan before I moved to the U.S. I’m a LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-based, insight-oriented, collaborative therapist. I have a warm, caring, and compassionate approach in therapy. I believe that you are the expert of your story. I follow your lead to help increase your awareness of how the problems entered your life. The problem doesn't get the final say on how you live your life. Let's reclaim that life you've always wanted, while being in touch with your strengths, values, and wisdom to create your solutions. We're a team, and ultimately, you are the author of your story! Let me help you write it. I highlight your local wisdom, culture, and values to help create your solutions and to achieve your goals. I firmly believe you already possess the strengths, abilities, and skills to navigate problems. I provide the skills to build your coping toolbox and practice strategies to relieve symptoms and support needed changes. My hope is for you to find the growth, change, and healing you’re looking for.

I have 5 years of clinical experience in private practice, community mental health agencies, and school settings. I specialize working with LGBTQ+, trauma survivors, teens, adults, and couples. It is an honor to support my fellow Filipina/o/x community in their therapy journey. I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to learn more how I can support. I look forward to connect soon!
